Today Heritage Minister, Albert Jacob announced the formalisation of Fremantle’s West End Heritage Area Listing on the State Register.

This is a great conclusion to literally years of work by Fremantle Council and Heritage consultants.  I’m very proud to have been a part of that work.

This is the largest area listing in the State and includes 250 buildings, many of which are registered in their own right.  This Listing compliments the extensive work being undertaken on the old town hall, a project I was privalaged it inspect last Monday.

Minister Jacob said: “Fremantle’s West End is a rare example of a highly intact port city business district and is particularly notable for its impressive variety of gold boom era buildings,”
