The current edition of the RAC Horizons magazine outlines the top five infrastructure projects as outlined in the RAC Federal Budget submission. Number one of these is Perth Light Rail. As a motorists organisation they have chosen to lobby for transit, this is because they know the roads will be grilocked without public transport, building more roads will not work. It was also very telling they have not included the Perth Freight Link. Presumably they understand it will offer no benefit to their members. They quote the State Gove figures:
- There would be over 100,000 passenger boardings per day on the $2 billion MAX light rail network by 2031.
