Lead exports through Fremantle

Tonight Fremantle Ports Community Liaison Group received a presentation from Rosslyn Hill Mining (formerly Magellan) on their export of Lead Carbonate through Fremantle Ports.  Much of it was very familiar, double bulka bags in sealed containers etc.

The Lead Carbonate is mined at the re-branded Paroo Station Mine near Wiluna and trucked to Leonora where the containers are transferred to rail for their trip to Fremantle Port for shipment overseas.

This trade has previously been controversial in Fremantle with the 2009 State bi-election being fought on which candidate, Adele Carles or Peter Tagliafferi, offered the greatest opposition to shipment of Lead Carbonate through Fremantle.
